Just goes to show how much some people are willing to pay for some space in London

Part of living in London is a constant struggle for space. Whether you choose to take a cab rather than rubbing shoulders with a stranger on the tube or paying a premium for a slightly larger flat, the capital is dominated by a space cost equation.
This is why although shocking, the cost of things like a space to store your car comes as no real surprise. Recently a garage in the affluent London neighbourhood of Knightsbridge went up for sale for a whopping £120,000. The car park's location likely explains its mind-boggling price tag.
The listing says: "The garage is located moments from Sloane Street, Sloane Square and Harrods." Completely unaffordable for the average Joe, the very normal looking garage's price seems to have been supercharged by its proximity to the most wealthy areas of London as well as Londoners' perpetual competition over space.

After a quick Google search, this isn't even the most expensive garage you will find in that part of London. It isn't even the most expensive in Kensington and Chelsea. There is a lock-up "just off Kensington High Street" on sale for an astronomical £325,000.
This garage is described as "a rare opportunity to acquire a triple-size garage suitable for 3 small cars or 2 larger ones." It is important to remember that these kinds of prices are unheard of outside of London. In fact, here are some examples of properties you can get for the same price as a garage near Harrods in the rest of the country.
You could get a two-bedroom house in Burnley and still have £20k leftover for an extravagant holiday before settling into your new life in the North. How about a 3 bedroom house in Hull which costs slightly more than £100,000, and although in Hull a three-bedroom house is nothing to sniff at.
You could get yourself a one bed flat in Torquay for less than £100k, leaving you with enough money left over for a therapist because now you live in Devon. What about somewhere a bit closer to the money vacuum that is the capital? There have been two-bedroom flats put on the market in Redhill, Surrey for less than the garage space, with enough spare cash left over to buy an xbox or a dog, anything to make the days go by a little quicker.
How about property for £325,000? My London recently put together a list of properties in Walthamstow you can get for that amount and they look far more attractive than a garage in Kensignton. Seems like once again the London property market is a reminder that some people know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
